Located approximately 12 kms from the city centre via the Riddoch Highway, the Mount Gambier Airport (MGB) is the sole commercial airport offering flight services to most of the southeastern cities in South Australia.

Currently, Regional Express is the only servicing airlines in this airport, which offers multiple daily flights to both Adelaide and Melbourne, with Saab 340 turboprop aircrafts.

Based on a report, the Mount Gambier Airport (MGB) is expected to get upgraded under a $3.2 million project funded by the South Australian Government and the District Council of Grant. This upgrade will include changes in the main runway, taxiways and aprons while improving the airport amenities.

Virgin Australia has also shown interest in operating its services to the airport. However, this has not yet been started and specified.

Currently, the airport amenities include all basic facilities, spacious lounges and few novelty and eateries.

The Mount Gambier Airport has a well-developed airport transportation system with a number of car rental and taxi hire options. Some of the popular taxi hire and car rental companies include the companies like Avis Australia Car Rentals and Hertz.

These car rental companies offer a wide range of vehicles including the economical cars and the luxury limousines as well. They also offer 4WDs, 8 seaters and commercial vehicles for rental.

The Mount Gambier Airport doesn’t have any railway or subway transportation yet.
